Tartans Finish Eighth at 2026 NCAA Championship; Wang Named Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman

The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team ended play at the 2026 NCAA Division III Championships with an eighth place finish out of 43 teams. The four-day tournament was held at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. The Tartans recorded a final-round score of 293 to bring their 72-hole total to 1,156 (281-290-292-293), finishing at +8. At the conclusion of play, freshman Joshua Wang was named the recipient of the 2026 NCAA Division III Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award presented by StrackaLine.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team carded four-over par 292 in the third round of the 2026 NCAA Division III Championships on Thursday on the El Campeón Course at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. The Tartans have a 54-hole score of three-over par 863 and are currently sixth in a field of 43 teams heading into the final round of play.
Rodgers Named Finalist for 2026 NCAA Division III Dave Williams Coach of the Year Award

Carnegie Melon University head men’s golf coach Dan Rodgers has been named a finalist for the 2026 Division III Dave Williams Award presented by Golf Pride Grips as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The Williams Award honors the national coach of the year in NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, NJCAA Division I, and NJCAA Division II men’s golf.
Tartans Tied for Third After Second Round of 2026 NCAA Championship

The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team continued play at the 2026 NCAA Division III Championships on Wednesday at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. The Tartans recorded a team score of 290 (+2) on the El Campeón Course and have a 36-hole score of 571 (-1) while they sit tied for third place with CMS in a field of 43 teams. Play was suspended for round two with CMS still having one hole to play. Following the completion of the second-round on Thursday at 7:30 a.m., the field will be cut to the top 18 teams and the top six individuals not on advancing teams.
Joshua Wang Named Finalist for Jack Nicklaus Award

Freshman Joshua Wang of the Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team has been named by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) as a finalist for the NCAA Division III Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award for the second consecutive year. The Nicklaus Award recognizes the top players at the Division I, II, III, NAIA and NJCAA levels.
Tartans Sit in Second With Opening Round of 2026 NCAA Championship Suspended

The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team opened play at the 2026 NCAA Division III Championships on Tuesday in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. The Tartans played their opening round on Las Colinas Golf Course, recording a team score of 281 (-3) to sit in second place out of 43 teams as play was suspended due to weather during the afternoon round with 19 teams still on the course.
Four Tartans Named PING All-Region

Four Carnegie Mellon University men's golfers have been recognized for their play on the course this season by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Senior David Zhang, junior Ryan Dannegger along with freshmen Joshua Wang and Charlie Hubbard were named to the 2024 PING Region 5 team.
Men’s Golf Receives Seventh Straight Bid to NCAAs

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team has been selected to compete in the 2026 NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championships. The championships will be held May 12-15 at Mission Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. Oglethorpe University and the Greater Orlando Sports Commission will be hosting the four-day event. First and second round competition will be played simultaneously at the El Campeón Course and Las Colinas Course with the final two rounds played on El Campeón.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team competed at the Sam Snead Collegiate on Monday and Tuesday at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club Gold Course in Williamsburg, Virginia. The Cardinal and Gray recorded a team score of two-over par 854 (289-286-279) to win the collegiate in a field of 21 teams.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team ended play on Tuesday at the 54-hole Tiger Invitational hosted by Hampden-Sydney College at the Forest Creek Golf Club in Pinehurst, North Carolina. The Tartans carded rounds of 287, 287 and 300 and finished eighth in the 20-team field with an 874.
