Men’s Golf Receives Seventh Straight Bid to NCAAs
(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team has been selected to compete in the 2026 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships. The championships will be held May 12-15 at Mission Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. Oglethorpe University and the Greater Orlando Sports Commission will be hosting the four-day event. First and second round competition will be played simultaneously at the El Campeón Course and Las Colinas Course with the final two rounds played on El Campeón.
This will mark the ninth appearance by the Tartans at the championships and seventh straight. Last season, the Tartans placed fifth, in 2024 they were national runner-up and in 2023 they captured the first team NCAA Division III Championship in university history. In 2022, the Tartans placed sixth, while in 2021 the team ended the championships in fourth. In 2009, the team finished 22nd, the 2017 team ended play 31st at the national event and the 2019 team placed 11th.
A total of 225 participants will compete at the 2026 championships. Thirty-four conferences were awarded an automatic qualification for the championships. The final nine berths are at-large selections for institutions from automatic-qualifying conferences that are not the conference champion and independent institutions. The ten individuals are selected from the remaining players who have not qualified with a team.
The Tartans currently are fourth nationally in the latest Division III rankings. Play begins on Tuesday, May 12 with round two to follow on Wednesday, May 13. Following 36 holes of play, the field will be cut to the top 18 teams and top six individuals. The final 18 teams will vie for the 2026 national championship with round three being played Thursday, May 14 and the fourth and final round on Friday, May 15.
