Three Tartans Named 2026 PING All-America
(NORMAN, Okla.) – Freshmen Joshua Wang, senior David Zhang and junior Ryan Dannegger of the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team have been named to the Division III PING All-American Team by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Wang was named a first team member while Zhang and Dannegger each landed a spot on the third team.
The Tartans placed eighth at the 2026 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship, as it was the ninth appearance by the Tartans at the championship event and seventh straight.
Wang, who was also name University Athletic Association (UAA) Rookie of the Year, led the Tartans with a scoring average of 71.3 over 31 rounds played. Wang recorded his collegiate-best round of four-under par 68 at the Wabash Invitational. Wang has been the individual medalist on two occasions. In the fall, he won the Gate City Invitational along with the Tartan Invitational. Wang recorded 23 rounds of even par or better this season. He was also a finalist for the NCAA Division III Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award, which recognizes the top players at the Division I, II, III, NAIA and NJCAA levels.
Zhang, garnering his third career All-American honor, was third on the team with a scoring average of 72.6 over 31 rounds played. The senior recorded a season-best round of four-under par on two occasions this season. The first was a 68 in the fall at the at the Wabash Invitational where he placed third individually in a field of 96 golfers and the second was during the spring where he shot a 67 at the Sam Snead Collegiate where he earned his first collegiate individual medalist honor in a field of 108 golfers. He recorded 17 rounds of even par or better this season.
Dannegger ended the season with the second-best scoring average on the Tartans with a 72.1 and also competed in 31 rounds. He carded four-under on two occasions this season for his season-low round. The first was at The Savannah Invitational and the other was at the Jekyll Island Collegiate. Dannegger recorded 18 rounds of even par or better this season.
