Zhang Receives Second Straight UAA Athlete of the Week Honor
(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – For the second consecutive week, senior David Zhang of the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Golf Athlete of the Week following his performance at the Sam Snead Collegiate last week.
Zhang helped the Tartans win the Sam Snead in a field of 21 teams that was played at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club Gold Course in Williamsburg, Virginia on April 13-14. He claimed his first collegiate individual medalist honor in a field of 108 golfers. The senior opened play carding a two-under par 69 and then followed with a four-under par 67. The final round had Zhang enter the clubhouse with a three-under par 68 to finish the 54-hole invitational at nine-under par 204. His 54-hole score of nine-under par is the fifth lowest three-round score in program history.
Zhang has now carded par or under in 14 of his 27 rounds this year and has an average of 72.7 per round.
