Six Men's Cross Country Runners Earn All-Academic Honor from USTFCCCA

Six members of the Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team were named to the All-Academic team by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). In addition, the Tartans earned all-academic team accolades with a 3.51 cumulative average.

Tartans Continue Academic Excellence Through Fall Semester

The fall athletics season was highlighted by four team NCAA Championship appearances and six nationally-ranked winter and spring teams, while the Tartans continued to excel in the classroom. An impressive 156 student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA, and 67% earned a GPA of 3.50 or higher.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team competed at the 2025 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships in Spartanburg, South Carolina, on Saturday, November 22, placing 15th with a score of 415. Three athletes finished in the top hundred out of 291 athletes.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team received an at-large invitation to the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country Championships which will be held at Milliken Research Park in Spartanburg, South Carolina, on Saturday, November 22. It marks the Tartans' 11th straight team appearance at the championships and 18th in the last 19 years.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team competed at the 2025 NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional hosted by Dickinson College at Big Springs High School on Saturday, November 15, the same course of the 2023 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship. The course was one of the most challenging courses the team has ever competed on with over 300 feet of elevation. But the Tartans, ranked 17th, placed second against 30 other teams, just behind Johns Hopkins University who is ranked 3rd in the nation.

The 16th-ranked Carnegie Mellon men's cross country team competed at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship hosted by Washington University in St. Louis at a nearby course in Edwardsville, Illinois. The course featured a section in the forest with rolling hills, as the Tartans placed third out of eight teams, behind sixth-ranked NYU and ninth-ranked University of Chicago.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team, ranked 16th in NCAA Division III, competed in the Rowan Interregional Border Battle at Rowan University on Saturday, October 18 with the Tartans winning the meet in a dominant performance, scoring 67 points on the 8k course.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country returned to Clinton, Pennsylvania, to host the Carnegie Mellon Invitational after competing at the course earlier this year. The Tartans delivered an impressive performance, finishing second out of 20 teams with a total of 95 points on the 8k course. Adding to the excitement, 14 CMU Cross Country alumni came back to compete in the meet, forming a team that placed fifth overall. Their participation brought a spirited energy to the event and highlighted the lasting bonds within the Tartan running community.
