Eight Carnegie Mellon University softball athletes were honored for their 2025-26 academic success by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). All eight were named NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes for finishing the year with a 3.5 grade point average (GPA) or better.

Tartans Close Spring Semester with Continued Academic Excellence

It was a terrific spring semester for Carnegie Mellon Athletics, as eight teams earned NCAA Championship appearances during the winter and spring seasons—while Tartans continued to shine in the classroom. An impressive 139 student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA, and nearly two-thirds posted a GPA of 3.50 or higher, exemplifying the department’s commitment to excellence on and off the field. Collectively, 15 of the 17 programs finished with year with a team GPA greater than 3.50.

Five Carnegie Mellon University softball student-athletes were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team for Division III Softball.

Monji and Beall Receive All-Region Recognition

Senior Kira Monji and junior Maddy Beall were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association 2026 Division III All-Region VII Team on Friday, May 15 when the organization announced the 386 student-athletes from 161 schools who received the honor. Both Monji and Beall were named to the third team and earn the recognition for the first time.

Three Carnegie Mellon University softball players have been honored on the University Athletic Association (UAA) All-Association Softball Team for the 2026 season. Junior Maddy Beall was named to the first team while sophomore Reagan Diamond and senior Kira Monji were named to the second team.

Tartans Drop Two to Close the Year

The Carnegie Mellon University softball team hosted Case Western Reserve University for a doubleheader to close the season on Saturday, May 9 at Shady Side Academy. The Spartans took game one, 7-1, before rallying for three runs in the top of the seventh inning to close game two with a 5-4 win. The Tartans finish the year with a 20-18 record and 6-12 mark in the University Athletic Association (UAA).

Tartans Fall in Late Innings to Case Western Reserve

The Carnegie Mellon University softball team hosted Case Western Reserve University on Friday, May 8 for each team's last University Athletic Association (UAA) series of the season. The Spartans picked up runs in the sixth and seventh innings to win 8-4 and push the Tartans record to 20-16 overall and 6-10 in the UAA.

The Carnegie Mellon University softball team dropped a pair of games at sixth-ranked Washington University in St. Louis on Saturday, April 25 to end the three-game series. The Tartans are now 20-15 for the season and 6-9 in the University Athletic Association (UAA).

The Carnegie Mellon University softball team began a three-game series against 6th-ranked Washington University in St. Louis on Friday, April 24. The Bears pulled through and beat the Tartans 6-3. This puts the Tartans at 20-13 overall and 6-7 in the University Athletic Association (UAA). The Bears are now 23-3-1 overall and 11-2 in the conference.

Pucci and Sharda Named UAA Athletes of the Week

Carnegie Mellon University senior Haley Pucci and freshman Riya Sharda were honored as University Athletic Association (UAA) Softball Athletes of the Week for their performances during a 5-0 week for the Tartans. The award is the first for both players and third and fourth for the program this year.

Tartans Sweep NYU to Take Series and Earn 20th Win

The Carnegie Mellon University softball team swept the series with New York University with a pair of victories on Saturday, April 18, as the program celebrated the seniors. A pair of five-inning wins by 13-4 and 17-0 scores pushed the Tartans’ record to 20-12 overall and 6-6 in the University Athletic Association (UAA) while the Violets fell to 6-26 and 0-12.

The Carnegie Mellon University softball team defeated New York University in the first of three games this weekend on Friday, April 17. The Tartans won 4-0 to advance to 18-12 overall and 4-6 in the University Athletic Association (UAA). The Violets fall to 6-24 and 0-10.

The Carnegie Mellon University softball team defeated La Roche University on their home turf in a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 15. Both games finished in five innings with the Tartans winning game one by a 14-3 score and finished the second game with a 16-1 victory to move to 17-12 for the season. The Redhawks fell to 9-21.

The Carnegie Mellon University softball team competed in a doubleheader against Brandeis University on Saturday, April 11. The Judges dominated the first game with a 5-0 win, while the Tartans won the second game, 2-1. This puts the Tartans at 15-12 overall and 3-6 in the University Athletic Association (UAA). The Judges are at 18-11 overall and 5-4 in the UAA.
