Tartans Drop Two at #6 WashU

(ST. LOUIS, Mo.) - The Carnegie Mellon University softball team dropped a pair of games at sixth-ranked Washington University in St. Louis on Saturday, April 25 to end the three-game series. The Tartans are now 20-15 for the season and 6-9 in the University Athletic Association (UAA).

Inside Game 1

  • The Tartans gave up a single run in three different innings to fall, 3-0.
  • Senior Kira Monji and junior Lindsey Murai each had a hit in the game.
  • Freshman Kiera Thomas gave up four hits and two runs while sophomore Gabriella Triano surrendered five hits and one run.

Inside Game 2

  • The Bears had a 3-0 lead before the Tartans tied the game in the top of the seventh inning. The Bears scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth.
  • Monji, Murai, frshman Sophia Doherty, junior Maya Bala and freshman Maddie Lee all collected hits.
  • Lee hit a three-run double in the seventh inning to account for all runs batted in by the Tartans.
  • Senior Haley Pucci gave up 10 hits and four runs with five strikeouts.
