Lauren London Hired as Women’s Volleyball Assistant Coach

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's volleyball program, under the direction of head coach Kim Kelly, announced the hiring of Lauren London as the first full-time assistant volleyball coach. London comes to Carnegie Mellon after spending a year as an assistant at Denison University.

"I am excited to have Lauren join the Carnegie Mellon volleyball program," said Kelly. "Her experience as a player and coach will take our team to a new level. The knowledge of the game she has had on the court and with recruiting will bring out the best in us all."

During her time at Denison, the Big Red recorded their best season in 10 years finishing with a 21-10 record in 2012 and a fourth-place finish in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) play while three players where named All-NCAC.

London is a 2010 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Hiram College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and a minor in history. She earned her master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh's Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA) in 2012.

While at Hiram, London was a four-year letterwinner and senior captain for the Terriers.  She was part of two NCAA Tournament teams and a member of the school's first-ever NCAC Tournament Championship squad in 2006.  That same season, the team set a school record with 33 victories. In four years as a Terrier, the team compiled a 103-38 record with 51 wins in conference play. London was a four-year member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and served as the SAAC President, Vice President and Secretary throughout her college career at Hiram.

Besides her coaching responsibilities at Carnegie Mellon, she will assist in the department's intramural program.
