  • Tartans Rack Up USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Award

    The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the women's 2013 Division III All-Academic Track & Field Teams and Carnegie Mellon University was included on the list. A total of 148 institutions earned the distinction as a result of a cumulative team GPA of 3.1 or better.
  • Guevel Named Academic All-District

    Carnegie Mellon University junior Jacqueline Guevel (Dallas, Texas/The Hockaday School), a member of the women’s track and field team, has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team for women's cross country and track and field for the 2012-13 season. CoSIDA recognizes outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments by honoring deserving athletes with All-Academic recognition with the official sponsor of Capital One.

    Junior Jacqueline Guevel (Dallas, Texas/The Hockaday School) of the Carnegie Mellon University women’s track and field team has qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Division III Track and Field Championships to be held May 23-25 in La Crosse, Wisconsin hosted by University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. The junior will compete in two events, the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles.

For the second straight season, junior Samantha Oleson (Hopkinton, Mass.) earned All-UAA honors in the weight throw leading the Tartans to fourth-place after the first day.

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team competed in the unscored Bucknell Winter Classic where sophomore Sasha Spalding (Springhill, Fla./Springstead) set the school record in the long jump. The event was held Saturday, February 9 amongst colleges from Divisions I, II and III.
  • Tight Finish with Case Leads to Victory in Battle of the Obelisk

    The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team helped the Tartans take back the Obelisk Trophy in the Fifth Annual Battle of the Obelisk with Case Western Reserve University hosted by the Spartans. The women lost a tight battle by a score of 66-61 but helped the program win the trophy with a combined score of 149-105 with the men's team.

  • Sasha Spalding has a Drive for Success in Business and Track

    Unlike her passion for business, Sasha Spalding’s athletic ability didn’t come from her family. But the drive to work hard and succeed was certainly instilled in her by her hard-working Caribbean-born parents. A native of New York who relocated to Florida, Spalding chose Carnegie Mellon University as her number one school because of the opportunity to compete in track and receive a renowned education.
