College Swim Coaches Association Honors Tartans with Academic Honor

(EVANSTON, Ill.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team was honored by the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for its academic success for the 2011-2012 school year. The 26 member team earned a 3.10 GPA for the spring semester.

In addition to the team honor, four individuals were named to the Scholar All-America team. Senior Matt Stanton (Richboro, Pa./Council), junior Dan Glaser-Garbrick (Dayton, Ohio/Centreville) and sophomore Austin Bohn (Annville, Pa./Annville-Cleona) earned top honors after competing at the NCAA Championships and earning a GPA greater than 3.5 for the season.

Stanton graduated with a 3.66 GPA in mechanical engineering and earned All-America Honorable Mention honors at the NCAA Championships by finishing 16th in the 400-yard medley relay. Glaser-Garbrick, a computer science major, earned a 3.63 GPA for the semester. He teamed with Stanton in the 400-yard medley relay and also earned All-America Honorable Mention in the 400-yard IM. Bohn is studying information systems and earned a 3.60 GPA for the semester. He also earned All-America Honorable Mention honors in the 400-yard medley relay.

Freshman David Campbell (Vorhees, N.J./Eastern Regional) is an electrical and computer engineering major with a 3.53 cum GPA. He earned Scholar All-America Honorable Mention status by meeting a "B" time standard during the season.
