Thirteen Earn NFCA All-America Scholar Honors

Thirteen Carnegie Mellon University softball athletes were honored for their 2024-25 academic success by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). All 13 were named NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes for finishing the year with a 3.5 grade point average (GPA) or better.

Tartans Impress Once Again in Classroom During Spring Semester

It was a terrific spring semester for Carnegie Mellon Athletics, as nine teams earned NCAA Championship appearances during the winter and spring seasons—while Tartans continued to shine in the classroom. An impressive 147 student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA, and nearly two-thirds posted a GPA of 3.50 or higher, exemplifying the department’s commitment to excellence on and off the field.

The Bears came out on top 6-3 in the first game and 8-2 in the second game. This puts the Tartans at 14-19 overall and 6-9 in the University Athletic Association (UAA), while the Bears are at 29-5 overall and 14-1 in the UAA.

The Carnegie Mellon University softball team played against 11th-ranked Washington University in St. Louis on Friday, April. 25 in New Castle, Pennsylvania. After a strong fifth inning by the Bears, the Tartans lost the game 5-1, making them 14-17 for the season and 6-7 in the University Athletic Association (UAA) while WashU rises to 27-5 and 12-1.

The Tartans defeated the Violets, 3-1, putting them at 13-15 overall and 5-5 in the University Athletic Association (UAA), while the Violets are at 9-21 overall and 1-9 in the UAA.

The Tartans won the first game 6-1 in eight innings and lost the second 11-3 in six innings, making the Tartans 12-15 for the season while the Golden Tornadoes move to 19-10.

The Carnegie Mellon University softball team ended its three-game series with Brandeis University on Sunday, April 13. The game went eight innings with the Judges winning 5-4, making the Tartans drop to 11-14 and 4-5 in the University Athletic Association (UAA) and the Judges jump to 7-19-1 and 3-6.
