Tartans Sweep Matches Against Franklin & Marshall and Dickinson
(MONROEVILLE, Pa.) – The 13th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team competed in two matches on Saturday, February 21. The Tartans won both matches, defeating both Franklin & Marshall College and Dickinson College by 7-0 scores.
Inside the Results Against Franklin & Marshall
- The Tartans won two of three doubles matches. Freshman Ika Kanumuri and sophomore Kotistha Modak won first doubles, 6-3. Freshman Jane Wong and sophomore Shelly Zinchenko won third doubles, 6-1.
- Wong finished singles play first with a score of 6-4, 6-1 at third singles.
- Senior Divya Venkatarama won fourth singles, 6-2, 6-3, and Zinchenko went 6-4, 6-3 at second singles to secure the team win.
- Modak started the singles matches off strong with a 7-5, 6-2 win.
- Senior Anika Joshi won sixth singles, 6-2, 6-1.
- Sophomore Victoria Gazda was victorious, 6-2, 6-3, at fifth singles.
Inside the Results Against Dickinson
- The Tartans went three for three in the doubles round. Wong and Zinchenko won 6-1 at second doubles. Sophomore Rachel Li and junior Ainika Hou won decisively at third doubles by a 6-0 score and the pair of sophomore Ancele Dolensek and Venkatarama won first doubles, 6-4, to close it out.
- Zinchenko was victorious at first singles, 6-0, 6-0, ahead of Wong winning at second singles, 6-1, 6-0.
- Freshman Allison Hsieh also went 6-0, 6-0 at sixth singles to secure the match win.
- Senior Manuela Van Cotthem won 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles.
- Gazda won her second singels match of the day with a 6-1, 6-0 score at third singles.
- Dolensek won fourth singles, 6-3, 6-2.
