Tartans Compete at Kenyon Invitational

(GAMBIER, Oh.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team competed at the Kenyon Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. The Tartans faced Denison University, Case Western Reserve University, and Kenyon College. 

How It Happened

  • The Tartans won nine of the 14 doubles matches they competed in over the weekend.
  • The doubles pair of freshman Ika Kanumuri and sophomore Shelly Zinchenko won two doubles matches together. They beat Kenyon 7-5 and Case Western 6-4.
  • Kanumuri won a third doubles match with partner sophomore Kotistha Modak, beating the Spartans 6-2.
  • The team of senior Anna Chow and freshman Jane Wong beat both Kenyon and Case Western Reserve 6-3.
  • Chow also won a third doubles match alongside sophomore Joycie Lu. They came out on top against Denison 6-3.
  • Senior Divya Venkatarama and sophomore Ancele Dolensek beat Denison 6-0 and Kenyon 7-5.
  • The Tartans also won 21 of their 27 singles matches.
  • Kanumuri, Zinchenko, Wong, and Joshi won three singles matches each.
  • Dolensek and freshman Allison Hsieh each won two singles matches.
  • Venkatarama, sophomore Rachel Li, and senior Manuela Van Cotthem each won one match.
