#9 Tartans Win 4-0 Over Washington & Lee to Advance to Third Round of NCAA Championship
(SWARTHMORE, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team, ranked ninth in the nation, faced off against 33rd-ranked Washington and Lee University on Saturday afternoon in the second round of the 2026 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championship. The Tartans won 4-0 to move to 15-5 for the season while the Generals season ended with a 12-11 mark. The match was played on the campus of Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania.
Inside the Results:
- The Tartans won the team doubles point with wins at one and two doubles. The Tartans third tandem of junior Raghav Jangbahadur and sophomore Takeshi Koey won 6-2 followed with a 6-3 win at the two spot by senior Akshay Joshi and freshman Ian Miller.
- Three straight victories in singles play lifted the Tartans to the win. The first point came at the top spot when sophomore Alex Feies won 6-3, 6-1.
- Jangbahadur then won 7-5, 6-3 at two singles followed by junior Daniel Kong with a 6-3, 7-5 at the six spot to secure the victory.
