#5 Tartans Start UAA Championship with 4-0 Win Against #25 NYU

(ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla.) - The fifth-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team opened the 2026 University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship with a 4-0 victory against 25th-ranked New York University on Thursday, April 23. The Tartans move to 14-3 for the season.

Inside the Results

  • The Tartans earned the doubles point with wins at first and second doubles. The number two pair of senior Akshay Joshi and freshman Ian Miller won 6-1 ahead of sophomore Brendan Hendrata and Alex Feies at the first position who won 6-4.
  • Junior Raghav Jangbahadur picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win at second singles to give the Tartans a 2-0 lead.
  • Hendrata then finished his fourth singles match by a 6-1, 6-1 score.
  • Sophomore Takeshi Koey earned the final point with a 6-2, 6-3 win at third singles.

The Tartans move on to the semifinals and will face sixth-ranked Case Western Reserve University on Friday, April 24 at 12:30 p.m.
