#17 Tartans Sweep St. Francis
(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The 17th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team defeated St. Francis University on Friday, February 13 by a 7-0 score to move to 3-0 for the season. The visiting Red Flash are now 1-4.
Inside the Results
- The Tartans went ahead 1-0 after the number three doubles team opened the match with a win and watched the number two team win after the number one team fell in a tight match.
- The third doubles pair of sophomores Alex Feies and Takeshi Koey won 6-1 while the second pair of graduate student Diogo Tinoco and freshman Ian Miller won 7-5.
- The Tartans won all six singles matches with Koey finishing first at fourth singles with a 6-1, 6-0 win.
- Tinoco put the Tartans ahead 3-0 with a 6-3, 6-1 win at second singles before junior Raghav Jangbahadur won 7-5, 6-2 at third singles to secure the match win.
- Other wins came from Feies at first singles, freshman Michael Larionov at sixth singles, and Miller at fifth singles.
