Tartans Compete in ITA Regionals, Feies Advances to Finals
(FREDERICKSBURG, Va.) – The Carnegie Mellon men's tennis team traveled to the University of Mary Washington for ITA Regionals beginning on Thursday, October 2 through Sunday, October 5.
Singles
- All five Tartans participating in the singles competition were victorious in the round of 64.
- Sophomore Alex Feies, sophomore Takeshi Koey, freshman Ian Miller each defeated opponents in Round 32.
- In the round of 16, Feies won 6-1, 6-0 and Koey won 6-3, 6-4.
- Koey fell 7-5, 7-5 in quarterfinals, but Feies advanced with a score of 6-1, 6-0.
- Feies came out on top in semifinals 6-2, 6-1, earning him a place in finals.
Doubles
- Three doubles pairs participated in competition.
- The duo of freshman Rian Merchant and Koey won 8-6 in the round of 32, but fell 7-4 in the the round of 16.
- Feies and junior Daniel Kong won 8-1 in the round of 32, 8-4 in the round of 16, but fell 8-4 in quarterfinals.
