Tartans Split Home Action on Saturday

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's volleyball team split competition with Ohio Wesleyan University and Mount Union University on Saturday, September 21 at home. The Tartans topped the Battling Bishops by a 3-1 score before falling to the Purple Raiders, 3-0.

Inside the Box Score Against Ohio Wesleyan

  • The Tartans took at 2-0 lead with set wins of 25-21 and 25-19 before Ohio Wesleyan won the third set, 26-24. The Tartans closed the match with a 25-12 win.
  • The Tartans hit .204 and the Bishops hit .149.
  • Three Tartans reached double figures in kills with graduate student Laura Reichard leading with 15.
  • Freshman Katherine Marshall tallied 12 kills and junior Bella Woodard had 10 kills.
  • Sophomore Neha Tummala dished out 44 assists and had five kills.
  • Senior Abby Chen led with 24 digs while Reichard had 17.
  • Chen and freshman Izzy Saffert each had three service aces.
  • Tummala and junior Julianna McFarland had three blocks each.

Inside the Box Score Against Mount Union

  • Mount Union won by set scores of 25-21, 25-17, and 26-24.
  • The Tartans hit .130 and the Raiders hit .149.
  • Reichard had 11 kills to lead the offense.
  • Reichard also led the team in digs with 19. She collected her 1,500th career dig and now has 1,510 for her career.
  • Chen picked up 12 digs and sophomore Zoe Gavros and Tummala each had 11 digs.
  • Tummala registered 29 assists.
  • McFarland and junior Katherine Jackson each had three block assists.
