#8 Tartans Open NCAA Championship with 4-0 Win Over St. Mary's College of Maryland

(BALTIMORE, Md.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team, ranked eighth in the nation, faced St. Mary's College of Maryland on Friday in the first round of the 2026 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship. The Tartans won 4-0 to move to 17-7 for the season while St. Mary's ends the season with a 14-5 mark. The match was played on the campus of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.

Inside the Results:

  • Carnegie Mellon took the point in doubles with wins at the second and third spots.
  • The Tartans second duo of senior Divya Venkatarama and sophomore Ancele Dolensek and the third doubles team of sophomores Shelly Zinchenko and Rachel Li each won by the score of 6-0.
  • In singles play, freshman Jane Wong won 6-0, 6-1 in the second spot to give the Tartans a 2-0 advantage.
  • Venkatarama then put Carnegie Mellon ahead 3-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 win at four singles before Dolensek clinched the match at six singles with a 6-0, 6-0. victory.
