#7 Tartans Win Home Contest 7-0 Over John Carroll

(PITTSBURGH, Pa) - The seventh-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team hosted John Carroll University on Friday afternoon and defeated the Blue Streaks, 7-0. The win moved the Tartans to 15-4 for the season. John Carrol is now 9-5.

Inside the Results

  • The Tartans went ahead 1-0 after sweeping doubles play. The number three doubles team of sophomores Shelly Zinchenko and Rachel Li were victorious with a 6-2 win.
  • The Tartans second doubles tandem of freshman Ika Kanumuri and junior Ainika Hou won 6-3 and the top duo of sophomores Ancele Dolensek and Victoria Gazda won 6-4.
  • In singles play the Cardinal and Gray won all six points to claim the victory.
  • Kanumuri was the first to finish, winning 6-1, 6-0 at first singles.
  • Gazda made it 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-4 win at third singles.
  • Sophomore Joycie Lu earned the match point with a 6-2, 6-1 win at sixth singles.
  • The Tartans also got singles wins from Zinchenko at second singles, Dolensek at fourth singles and freshman Allison Hsieh at fifth singles.
