#9 Tartans End Season in Third Round of NCAA Championship
(SWARTHMORE, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team, ranked ninth in the nation, competed in the third round of the 2026 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championship on Sunday afternoon at Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania. The Garnet, ranked eighth nationally, defeated the Tartans 4-1. Carnegie Mellon concludes its dual match season with a record of 15-6 while Swarthmore moves to 22-6.
Inside the Results:
- The Swarthmore won at two and three doubles to secure the team point heading into singles play.
- The Garnet then won at two singles before sophomore Alex Feies made the score 2-1 with a 7-6 (5), 6-4 win at the top spot.
- The next two singles points were won at three and four singles by Swarthmore to seal the team victory.
- When play was stopped freshman Ian Miller and sophomore Takeshi Koey were both in the third set with Miller leading 5-4 and Koey down 2-1.
Notes:
- This marked the Tartans first appearance in the NCAA Championship since 2021 and 10th in program history.
- It is the seventh time in program history that the Tartans at least reached the third round.
