Tartans Suffer 1-0 Road Loss to NYU

(NEWARK, N.J.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team travelled to New York University on Friday, October 24 to face the Violets in a University Athletic Association (UAA) contest. A late second-half goal for the home team dropped the Tartans 7-3-5 for the season and 0-2-2 in the UAA while NYU rises to a 3-8-1 overall and 1-3 in the UAA.

  • Freshman Idan Garten took the first shot of the game in the fourth minute but it was blocked by the defense.
  • Another shot by the Tartans, this one by junior Dominic Hoar-Weiler, in the sixth minute was blocked before NYU had a shot go high in the eighth minute.
  • The Tartans had two other shots blocked in the first half while junior keeper Kai Yamamoto made three saves to keep the game scoreless at the break.
  • NYU's goal came in the 72nd minute from Giulio Potenti off assists from Keyon Namdar and Joe Brancato.
  • The Tartans came up empty on three shots in the final 17 minutes while Yamamoto made a pair of saves.
