Tartan Split Play in First Day of UAA Round Robin

(ATLANTA, Ga.) – The 25th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's volleyball team began the first University Athletic Association (UAA) Round Robin of the season on Saturday. They lost 3-1 against the ninth-ranked Eagles of Emory University before defeating Case Western Reserve University 3-1. The Tartans are now 12-5 overall.

  • The Eagles won the first, third, and fourth sets, and the Tartans won the second set.
  • The Tartans hit .195 and the Eagles hit .329.
  • Senior Katherine Jackson and senior Julianna McFarland led the team's attack with nine kills each. McFarland had a team-high kill percentage of .412.
  • Jackson also had two serving aces.
  • Freshman Melissa Jin had 26 assists.
  • Junior Zoe Gavros led with 21 digs.

  • Jackson had 14 kills and junior Kate Giang had 11.
  • Junior Neha Tummala recorded 38 of the team's 41 assists.
  • Senior Elizabeth Schlemmer recorded five service aces and Gavros had four.
  • Gavros also had a team-high of 20 digs.
  • Senior Bella Woodard had six block assists.
