Tartans Drop Two Close Matches in UAA Round Robin #3

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon volleyball team hosted #17 Case Western Reserve and #8 Washington University in St. Louis on Sunday, October 27 for the 3rd University Athletic Association Round Robin of the season. The Tartans lost 3-2 to both Case Western and WashU. This puts the Tartans at 14-10 overall and 4-3 in the UAA.

Inside the Box Score Against Case Western

• The Spartans won the first set 25-17. The Tartans won sets two and three 25-23 and 25-14. Finally, the Spartans won sets four and five 29-27 and 18-16 for a final score of 3-2 in their favor.
• The Tartans hit 0.22 while the Spartans hit 0.224.
• Junior Julianna McFarland had 17 kills and junior Katherine Jackson tied a career-best with 16.
• Graduate student Laura Reichard finished with 14 kills while sophomore Elizabeth Phillips recorded a career-best 12 in the setback.
• Sophomore Neha Tummala had 60 assists.
• Reichard and junior Elizabeth Schlemmer both had two serving aces.

• The Tartans won the first set 25-23. The Bears won the second and third sets 26-24 and 25-22. The Tartans won the fourth set 25-22. The Bears won the fifth set 15-13 for a final score of 3-2 in their favor.
• The Tartans hit 0.186 and the bears hit 0.244.
• Jackson and Reichard both had 15 kills.
• Tummala had 55 assists.
• Chen led the Tartans with four service aces and sophomore Zoe Gavros tabbed three.
• Chen recorded 23 digs and Reichard had 20.
• At the net, McFarland posted three block solos and two block assists with Phillips recording two solos and three assists to lead the Cardinal and Gray.
