#6 Tartans Edged by #4 Chicago in UAA Semifinal

(ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla.) - The sixth-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team ran into fourth-ranked Emory University in the semifinals of the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship on Saturday at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida. The Tartans dropped a 4-0 match and are now 16-6 overall while the Maroons move to 14-4.

Inside the Results

  • The Maroons earned the doubles point winning at second and third.
  • Chicago took points at third, first and six singles to secure the victory.
  • Senior Divya Venkatarama won her first set at five singles and was ahead 4-3 when play was stopped.
  • Sophomore Kotistha Modak also took her first set playing in the four spot and when play was stopped, she trailed 1-0 on the second set.
  • At second singles, freshman Jane Wong forced a third set after dropping her first set 6-0, she won 6-2 in the second.
