(ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla.) - The sixth-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team defeated 26th-ranked New York University to open the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship on Friday, April 24. The Tartans are now 16-5 overall.

Inside the Results

  • The doubles point went to the Tartans after the pairs at first and second doubles won their respective matches. Senior Divya Venkatarama and sophomore Ancele Dolensek finished their second doubles match by a 6-0 score ahead of sophomore Kotistha Modak and freshman Ika Kanumuri won 6-1 at first doubles.
  • Freshman Jane Wong finished her second singles match first with a 6-2, 6-1 win.
  • Modak then won at fourth singles, 6-1, 6-1.
  • Venkatarama closed the match with a 6-3, 6-2 win at fifth singles for the team win.
