(LEXINGTON, Va.) – The 18th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team was defeated by ninth-ranked Washington and Lee University by a 2-0 score in the second round of the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship on Sunday, November 16. The Tartans end the season with a 10-5-5 record while the Generals move on with an 18-2-2 mark.
Inside the Box Score
- Washington and Lee scored their first goal in the 16th minute when Sarah Zimmerman found the back of the net for the 17th time this season off an assist from Elizabeth Zimmerman.
- The Tartans matched the Generals with seven shots in the first half but only put one on frame that was stopped by Kate McEnroe in the 30th minute off the foot of sophomore Skylar Hendricks.
- After having three shots turned away by junior Maddie Kellogg in the first half, the Generals found the net again in the 52nd minute when Helen Otteni scored off an assist from Aubrey Dunbar.
- Junior Audrey Bianco put a shot on frame in the 73rd minute that was saved by McEnroe while freshman Margherita Memoli put a shot on goal in the 81st minute that was stopped.
