#17 Tartans Fall at Home to #14 John Carroll

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The 17th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University hosted 14th-ranked John Carroll University on Friday, November 14 for its first home game of the season. The Tartans fell, 61-41, to the Blue Streaks who are now 4-0 on the season while the Tartans are 1-1.

How it Happened

  • The Tartans led 15-14 after the first quarter thanks to 46.7% shooting from the field.
  • The Blue Streaks controlled the second quarter and out scored the Tartans 15-6 for the frame to take an eight-point halftime lead, 29-21.
  • During the second period, the Blue Streaks shot 35.3% while the Tartans hit just three shots from the field for a 21.4% showing.
  • An even third quarter fell to John Carroll by a point. The Tartans couldn't find the hoop, hitting just 17.6% from the field and trailed by nine going into the final quarter.
  • After the Blue Streaks opened the fourth with a steal and layup, the went on to shoot 52.9%, their best of the game, and extended the lead to 20 points by the final horn.
