ITA Honors Men’s Tennis as All-Academic Team; Six Named Scholar Athletes

(TEMPE, Ariz.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team was honored for the 16th straight season and 23rd time in the last 24 years by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as an ITA All-Academic Team. In addition, six players were named ITA Scholar Athletes.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program with a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above during the last academic year. The Tartans achieved a cumulative average of 3.44 for the year.

In addition to the team honor, senior William Wang, junior Akshay Joshi, sophomores Raghav Jangbahadur and Daniel Kong, and first-year athletes Braden Chavez and Will Secord were honored as ITA Scholar Athletes.

In order to be eligible to be an ITA Scholar-Athlete, a player must have an academic year GPA of at least 3.50 and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
