#24 Tartans Defeat Rochester at UAA Championship

(ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla.) - The 24th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team played University of Rochester in the consolation semifinals of the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship on Friday in Altamonte Springs, Florida. The Tartans move to 10-9 overall with a 4-0 win while the Yellowjackets are now 9-10.

How it Happened:

• The Tartans took the point in doubles play as the top tandem of sophomore Raghav Jangbahadur and freshman Brendan Hendrata won 6-4 while the Tartans second doubles tandem of junior Akshay Joshi and freshman Takeshi Koey on 6-2.
• Freshman Braden Chavez put the Tartans ahead 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at six singles.
• Hendrata then won 6-2, 6-4 at three singles to give the Tartans the 3-0 advantage.
• Freshman Alex Feies won by the scores of 6-3, 6-2 at the top spot to clinch the win.

• The Tartans will now face WashU at 8:30 a.m. Sunday in the fifth-place match.
