#21 Tartans Lose Hard Fought Match to #5 Case Western

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The 21st-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team hosted the fifth-ranked Case Western Reserve University on Saturday afternoon. The Spartans came out on top, putting the Tartans at 9-8 overall while the Spartans are now 22-5.

Inside the Results

  • Sophomore Raghav Jangbahadur and freshman Brendan Hendrata started out strong in first doubles, winning 6-4.
  • Freshman Alex Feies and sophomore Daniel Kong won third doubles, awarding the Tartans the first point with the second doubles match abandoned,
  • After Case Western Reserve took the first point of singles with a win at the six spot, the Tartans got two points with wins at first and five.
  • Feies came out on top in first singles with a score of 6-4, 6-4 for the Tartans and freshman Takeshi Koey won fifth singles 6-3, 6-2.
  • The Spartans then knotted the score at 3-all, claiming wins at four and three singles leaving the deciding point of the match to the two spot.
  • The three-set match went to Case Western Reserve and gave the visitors the 4-3 victory.
