(WILLIAMSBURG, Va.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team competed at the Sam Snead Collegiate on Monday and Tuesday at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club Gold Course in Williamsburg, Virginia. The Cardinal and Gray recorded a team score of two-over par 854 (289-286-279) to win the collegiate in a field of 21 teams.

How it Happened:

  • Senior David Zhang Zhang opened play carding a two-under par 69 and then followed with a four-under par 67. On Tuesday the senior entered the clubhouse with a three-under par 68 to finish the 54-hole invitational at nine-under par 204 to claim the individual medalist in a field of 108 golfers.
  • Freshman Joshua Wang carded rounds of two-under par 69 and one-over par 72 on the first day and then followed with a round of even par 71 over the final 18 holes. Wang finished the event with a one-under par 212 and placed third.
  • After Monday's play, junior Ryan Dannegger sat on the individual leaderboard at three-over par with rounds of even par 71 and a 74. Dannegger ended play with an even par 213 after firing a three-under par 68 on Tuesday and placed fifth individually.
  • Freshman Charlie Hubbard shot 228 (80-76-72).
  • Senior Andrew Wang finished with a 238 (89-73-76).
  • Competing as individual, freshman Jason Chan shot 219 (76-74-69).

Notes:

  • Zhang's 54-hole score of nine-under par is the fifth lowest three-round score in program history.
  • Over the final 37 holes that Zhang played, he only recorded one bogey.
