Joshua Wang Claims Individual Medalist at Tartan Invite, #4 Tartans Place Fourth
(LIGONIER, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team histed The Tartan Invitational on Monday and Tuesday and carded a team score of 890 (309-295-286). The Tartans placed fourth in a field of 16 teams while the 'B' team placed tied for seventh with a 908 (298-309-301). The 54-hole, two-day event was played at the historic Laurel Valley Golf Club in Ligonier, Pennsylvania. Freshman Joshua Wang claimed his second individual medalist honor of the fall season.

How it Happened
- Freshman Joshua Wang opened play carding a two-over par 74 and then followed with a one-over par 73. On Tuesday the freshman entered the clubhouse with a three-under par 69 to finish the 54-hole invitational at even par 216 to claim the individual medalist in a field of 87 golfers.
- Senior Andrew Wang carded a six-over par 222 after he shot rounds of 78, 74 and two-under par 70, as he tied for 12th individually.
- After recording back-to-back rounds of 77, senior David Zhang fired a one-under par 71 on Tuesday and finished with 225.
- Junior Ryan Dannegger shot 231 (80-75-76).
- Freshman Jason Chan finished with 235 (83-73-79).
'B' Team at Invitational:
- Sophomore Andy Yu led the 'B' team with a 225, as he opened play with a one-under par 71 and then shot rounds of 78 and 76.
- Sophomore Will Blankenship finished three strokes behind Yu with a 228 (76-79-73).
- Freshman Charlie Hubbard fired a 231 (72-81-78).
- Senior Jay Saluja shot 234 (79-76-79).
- Junior Steven Shea finished with a 235 (85-76-74).
- Competing as individuals were junior Justin Luan who carded 236 (77-76-83) and freshman Sebastian Fernandez 237 (77-82-78).
Notes
- Laurel Valley Golf Club opened in 1959 and was designed by Dick Wilson and renovated by Arnold Palmer. Since its opening, the club has hosted two notable tournaments: the 1965 PGA Championship and the 1975 Ryder Cup. Other tournaments played on the course include the 1989 U.S. Senior Open, the 2001 Marconi Pennsylvania Classic and the 2005 Senior PGA Championship.
