Men’s Golf Receives Bid to NCAAs
(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team has been selected to compete in the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships. The championships will be held May 20-23 at Midvale Country Club in Penfield, New York. St. John Fisher University and Rochester NY Sports Commission will be hosting the four-day event. In addition to Midvale, first and second round competition will be played simultaneously at Cobblestone Creek Country Club in Victor, New York.
This will mark the eighth appearance by the Tartans at the championships and sixth straight. Last season, the Tartans were national runner-up and in 2023 they captured the first team NCAA Division III Championship in university history. In 2022, the Tartans placed sixth, while in 2021 the team ended the championships in fourth. The 2009 team finished 22nd, the 2017 team ended play 31st at the national event and the 2019 team placed 11th.
A total of 225 participants will compete at the 2025 championships. Thirty-four conferences were awarded an automatic qualification for the championships. The final nine berths were at-large selections, which are institutions from automatic-qualifying conferences that are not the conference champion and independent institutions. The ten individuals are selected from the remaining players who have not qualified with a team.
The Tartans currently 11th nationally in the latest Division III rankings Play begins on Tuesday, May 20 with round two to follow on Wednesday, May 21. Following 36 holes of play, the field will be cut to the top 18 teams and top six individuals. The final 18 teams will vie for the 2025 national championship with round three being played Thursday, May 22 and the fourth and final round on Friday, May 23.
