(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team finished fifth at the Flower City Preview which was played at Midvale Country Club. The final 18 holes of the 54-hole event was played at Irondequoit Country Club as the Tartans fired a 283 on Monday for a 853 (286-284-283) (-11).

How it Happened:

  • Senior Justin Chan fired a six-under par 66 in the final round and ended with a 54-hole score of 10-under par 206 (72-68-66). He placed third individually in a field of 90 golfers.
  • Freshman Leonardo Vieira carded a one-under par 71 on Monday for a two-under par 214 (71-72-71) for the preview.
  • On Monday, junior David Zhang fired a two-under par 70 and tied Vieira at the preview with a two-under par 214 (72-72-70).
  • Sophomore Steven Shea carded a 220 (72-72-76).
  • Sophomore Ryan Dannegger ended play with a 230 (71-75-84).

Notes:

  • Chan's score of 206 (-10) is the third lowest individual 54-hole total in the program's history.
  • Chan's third round score of 66 (-6) is tied for the fourth lowest individual round in program history.
  • The Tartans 54-hole score of 853 (-11) is tied for the second lowest three-round score in program history.

'B' Team Competes at Allegheny Guy & Jeanne Kuhn Invitational:

  • The Tartans 'B' Team competed in a 11-team field on Sunday and Monday at the Allegheny Guy & Jeanne Kuhn Invitational in Meadville, Pennsylvania. The two-day, 36-hole event was played at the par 72 Country Club of Meadville with the Cardinal and Gray placing fourth at the event with a 600 (302-298).
  • Freshman Will Blankenship was the Tartans top golfer as he shot a four-over par 146 (72-74) in his first collegiate event.

  • The Tartans will play in the Gate City Invitational on September 30 and October 1 at Starmount Forest Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina.
