Tartans Sit Atop Leaderboard; Hold One-Stroke Lead Heading into Final Round of 2024 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship

(BOULDER CITY, Nev.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team carded an eight-under par 280 in the third round of the 2024 NCAA Division III Championships on Thursday in Boulder City, Nevada. The Tartans have a 54-hole score of 15-under par 849 (282-287-280) and currently hole a one-stroke lead in a field of 43 teams heading into the final round of play.

How it Happened:

• The Tartans low round of the first three rounds was recorded on Thursday when Senior Brian Xu entered the clubhouse with a four-under par 68. The senior has a three-round score of five-under par 211 (72-71-68) and is tied for sixth individually in a field of 221 golfers.
• Sophomore David Zhang shot his third straight round of under per with a one-under 71 and is tied with Xu with a five-under par 211 (69-71-70) after 36 holes.
• Junior Justin Chan carded his second straight round of one-under par 71 and has a 54-hole score of 214 (72-71-71).
• On Thursday, sophomore Jay Saluja carded a career-best round of two-under par 70 and will enter the final round with a 219 (75-74-70).
• Freshman Ryan Dannegger fired a round of one-over par 73 and has a 216 (69-75-73).

Notes:

• The Tartans round of 280 (-8) is tied for the fourth best single-round in program history.
