Men’s Basketball Earns 14th Straight Team Academic Honors by NABC; Seven Individuals Honored

(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball team was recognized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) when the committee on academics announced the annual Team Academic Excellence Awards for 2025-26. The Tartans have achieved the honor each of the 14 seasons it has existed.

Besides the team being honored, seven members were selected to the NABC Honors Court for the third consecutive year, recognizing those collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the 2025-26 season.

In order to earn a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, an institution must have a cumulative team grade point average of 3.0 or better for the 2025-26 season. The Tartans earned a team cumulative GPA of 3.65.

The NABC Honors Court recognizes the talents and gifts that these men possess off the court, and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom. To be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must be academically a junior or senior, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2025-26 academic year, must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution and be a member of an NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Institution.

The seven Tartans honored were graduate students Nolan Casey, Nikola Dmitrievich and Sam Adusei, seniors Buckley DeJardin and Chris Jaeb along with juniors Chase Collignon and Isaac Higgs.
