Tartans End Road UAA Weekend with a Setback at #22 NYU
(NEW YORK, N.Y.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball team traveled to the Big Apple on Sunday afternoon to play 22nd-ranked New York University in University Athletic Association (UAA) action. The Tartans dropped a 74-63 contest and now are 10-7 overall and 2-4 in UAA while the Violets are now 13-5, 4-3.

How it Happened
- At the 11-minute mark of the first half the Tartans knotted the score at 15-all following a layup by graduate student Nolan Casey.
- Over the next minute of action, NYU scored eight straight points and led 23-15.
- A triple by senior Buckley DeJardin at 8:17 in the first half sparked a 14-0 run for the Tartans over a four-minute span and gave the Cardinal and Gray a 29-23 lead.
- The Violets responded by scoring 15 of the final 19 points of the first twenty minutes and went into the locker room with a 38-33 advantage.
- A tip-in basket by graduate student Nikola Dimitrijevic four minutes into the second half tied the score at 44-all.
- Over the next nine minutes, NYU used a 14-3 run and took a 58-47 lead with 7:29 to play.
- Carnegie Mellon closed the gap to 58-51with 6:16 to play after a layup by DeJardin, but that is as close as the Tarans could pull.
- Over the next three minutes, NYU used a 12-4 run to push its lead back to double figures and went on for the 74-63 victory.

- Carnegie Mellon finished shooting 35.5% from the floor and 16.7% (4-24) from behind the arc.
- Dimitrijevic recorded a career-high 24 points and grabbed a career-best 13 rebounds to record his third career doble-double. He also handed out four assists and recorded two block shots.
- Sophomore Evan Mirazimi ended the game with 11 points while DeJardin finished with 10 points.
Violet Stats
- NYU shot 44.1% from the floor and converted 13-of-30 (43.3%) from long range.
- Luke Kolaja led the Violets with 23 points followed by Quinn Clark and Carnegie Johnson who each had 15 points.
- Clark led the home team with eight rebounds while Johnson handed out seven assists.
Game Notes
- DeJardin has 987 points for his career and needs 13 more to become the 23rd Tartan to reach 1,000 points for their career.
