Tartans Split Play at Juniata College

(HUNTINGDON, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team faced Penn State Altoona and the ninth-ranked Juniata College on Saturday. The Tartans won 3-0 against Penn State Altoona and fell 3-2 to Juniata. The Tartans are now 21-8 overall as they head into the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship play.

  • Junior Zoe Gavros had a team high of four service aces.

  • The Tartans lost 3-2 to the Eagles. The Tartans won the first and fourth sets 25-23 and 25-18, while the Eagles won the remaining sets 25-11, 25-18, and 15-9.
  • The Tartans hit 0.121 and the Eagles hit 0.213.
  • Woodard, Jackson, Giang, and senior Julianna McFarland each recorded seven kills for the Cardinal and Gray.
  • Lee had a team high 21 assists.
  • Gavros had two service aces.
  • Giang and sophomore Izzy Saffert recorded 17 and 14 digs, respectively.
  • McFarland had eight block assists, and Herchenroether had one block solo.
