Tartans Top Capital 3-0 on Senior Night

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's volleyball team hosted Capital University on Friday, October 10 for Senior Night at the Highmark Center for Health, Wellness, and Athletics. The Tartans defeated the Comets in three sets, moving to 16-5 for the season while the Comets drop to 2-16.

• The Tartans won with set scores of 25-10, 25-15, and 25-20.
• The Tartans hit .308 compared to the .054 for the Comets.
• Senior Elizabeth Schlemmer led the offensive attack with nine kills and hit .400 followed by senior Bella Woodard with eight kills and a hitting percentage of .467.
• Senior Julianna McFarland hit .375 with seven kills and also had two block solos and four block assists.
• Senior Kai Herchenroether contributed six kills after hitting .455 and had two block solos.
• Junior Neha Tummala handed out 19 of the team's 40 total assists, with freshman Melissa Jin collecting 11 and freshman Dani Lee picking up seven.
• Junior Zoe Gavros and senior Katherine Jackson both had two service aces.
• Gavros collected 23 digs throughout the game.

The Tartans will travel for the University Athletics Association (UAA) Round Robin #2 on Sunday, October 12 at Case Western Reserve University. They will first face off against the University of Rochester at 10:00 a.m., followed by a game against Washington University in St. Louis at noon.
