Tartans Breeze to 3-0 Win Over Saint Vincent

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's volleyball team hosted Saint Vincent College on Wednesday evening, as the Tartans defeating the Bearcats in three sets. Following set wins of 25-12, 25-7 and 25-13, the Tartans move to 3-1 on the season while the Bearcats are now 1-2.

  • The Tartans hit a .370 compared to Saint Vincent's .042.
  • Senior Katherine Jackson led the offensive attack with 10 kills and hit .500, while classmate Bella Woodard also hit .500 with nine kills.
  • Freshman Sophie Pan ended the night hitting .667 with eight kills.
  • Junior transfer Kate Giang recorded seven service aces with all of them coming during a 10-point serve.
  • Junior Neha Tummala handed out 19 assists, as freshman Melissa Jin tallied 13.

  • Giang's seven service aces are the most by a Tartan since Maia So-Holloway had eight and Lauren Mueller had seven against Franciscan on September 18, 2018. Her seven aces are also a career-high.
  • The Tartans finished with a total of 17 aces as a team. It was the most in a contest since 24 were recorded against Franciscan on September 18, 2018.
