Zinchenko Named UAA Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week

(PITTSBURGH Pa.) – Carnegie Mellon University sophomore Shelly Zinchenko was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week for her performance over the Tartans spring break trip to Florida.

Zinchenko helped the Tartans to a 5-0 spring break trip with three wins coming against a top 25 opponent. Zinchenko went a combined 7-0 in doubles and singles play with three wins coming at two singles and another at the top spot. She teamed with classmate Rachel Li to win three matches against ranked opponents in doubles play. two of her wins in singles play were in straight sets including a win over an opponent from 19th-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College at two singles. Her other straight set win came as she played in the top spot against North Central College.

The 11th-ranked Tartans who are 11-0 will compete next Sunday, March 22, at 21st-ranked Swarthmore College.
