School Record and Top Times Lead Tartans at Kenyon Invitational

(GAMBIER, Ohio) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming team competed in the second day of the Kenyon College Total Performance Invitational on Friday, November 21. Freshman Audrey Gil set a school record and three others set season top times.

Top Performances

  • Freshman Audrey Gil won the 100-yard butterfly in 54.90 to set a new school record, overtaking senior Savannah Xu's time of 55.86 set in 2022. Senior Audrey Soetanto was sixth in the event in 56.23.
  • The 800-yard freestyle relay picked up a second-place finish in 7:36.75 thanks to swims from Soetanto, senior Sophie Elliott, freshman Victoria Sun, and freshman Alefiya Dhansura.
  • The 200-yard medley relay set a time of 1:44.75 behind the swims from Elliot, Sun, senior Savannah Xu, and Gil to finish fifth.
  • Elliott placed sixth in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:53.14 for a career-best time.
  • Freshman Katelyn Smittle took fifth in the 400-yard IM in a time of 4:29.90 for a season top time.
  • Sun placed fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:04.14 for a season top time.
  • Xu took fourth in the 100-yard backstroke in 56.16 while sophomore Yuchen Zhou was ninth in 57.42.
