#18 Tartans Selected to 12th NCAA Tournament

(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) - The 18th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team received an at-large bid to the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship after finishing the regular season with a 9-4-5 record. The Tartans will travel to Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, and begin play on Saturday, November 15. The appearance in the NCAA tournament marks the 12th in 13 years for the program. 

The Tartans started the year ranked 16th in the nation with a close 1-0 loss to Bridgewater College, who also earned an at-large bid with a 15-5 record. Following that match, the Tartans went 9-0-1 before starting the Univesity Athletic Association (UAA) schedule which featured seven straight games against a ranked opponent. The Tartans finished that slate with an 0-3-4 record.

The Tartans drew the University of Scranton in the first round of the NCAA tournament and will face the Landmark Champions with a 15-2-3 record on Saturday, November 15 at Washington and Lee. The winner will advance to play Sunday, November 16 at Washington and Lee against the winner of Marymount University (11-8-2) and the host Generals (16-2-2), who are ranked ninth in the nation.

The Tartans have had success in the national tournament, advancing past the second round seven times, while the 2019 team played in the national semifinal for the first time in program history. In 11 years in the tournament, the Tartans have an 18-7-5 record with 18 shutouts.
