#16 Tartans Win Third Straight, Defeat Denison on the Road

(GRANVILLE, Ohio) - The 16th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team won its third straight game after a 2-1 victory on the road against Denison University on Sunday, September 7. The Tartans are now 3-1 on the season while the Big Red move to 2-2.

  • The Tartans took six shots in the first half putting one on goal in the fifth minute by senior Vivian Wang.
  • The Big Red had four shots, all off the mark, in the first half.
  • Carnegie Mellon had a shot blocked with the follow-up attempt by Wang in the 47th minute stopped by the Denison keeper. 
  • In the 53rd minute, junior Audrey Bianco got a shot by Molly Noga to put the Tartans ahead.
  • The Big Red equalized in the 82nd minute on a penalty kick goal by Isabella Guzman.
  • Just under two minutes later, freshman Caroline Klauder scored her first career goal off an assist by sophomore Iva Damyanova.
  • Junior Maddie Kellogg earned the victory after playing the final 45 minutes of the contest for the Tartans.
