#16 Tartans Dismantle Wittenberg with 3-0 Victory

(MARIETTA, Ohio) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team defeated Wittenberg University on Saturday, August 30 by a 3-0 score to close play at the Marietta Tournament. The 16th-ranked Tartans are now 1-1 for the season.

Inside the Box Score

  • After two back-to-back shots on goal, taken by freshman Haley Peek and senior Vivian Wang, junior Audrey Bianco scored the first goal of the game in the seventh minute.
  • Freshman Olivia Hoffman scored the second goal, assisted by freshman Magherita Memoli, after a corner kick in the 14tth minute.
  • Junior Saveria Ulizzi scored the final goal of the game with ten minutes left in the first half, allowing the Tartans to end the half with a three-goal lead.
  • The Tartans took 13 shots in the second half with five being on goal, but the half was ultimately silent, with the score remaining 3-0.
  • Freshman Kiera Chang and Bianco both had four shots in the game.
  • Freshman Arianna Peart and junior Natalie Rayce followed wit three shots in the game, and two being on goal.
  • Freshman Delaney Martin and junior Maddie Kellogg split time in goal with Martin making two saves and earned the first victory of her career.
