Wong Named UAA Women’s Golf Athlete of the Week
(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Sophomore Emma Wong of the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Golf Athlete of the Week following her performance in leading the Tartans win the Savannah Invitational last week at Club At Savannah Harbor in Savannah, Georgia.
Wong posted rounds of four-under par 69 and three-under par 70 to claim her second individual medalist honor this season with a seven-under par 139 over the 36-hole event. Her seven-under par is the lowest 36-hole score in program history, as she also headed a Cardinal and Gray team that recorded a school record 36-hole score of 24-under par which is said to be among the top performances in NCAA Division III history.
The Tartans will next compete at the three-day Jekyll Island Invitational at the Great Dunes Golf Club in Jekyll Island, Georgia, beginning Friday, March 20.
