Wong Honored as UAA Women's Golf Athlete of the Week
(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) - Carnegie Mellon University sophomore Emma Wong has been honored as the University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Golf Athlete of the Week for her performance in two events for the Tartans. The award is the first for Wong and the team this season.
Wong helped the Tartans win the NCAA Preview over the weekend at Desert Willow Golf Club in Palm Springs, California. The sophomore posted back-to-back rounds of three-under par 69 to claim individual medalist honors with a six-under par 138 over the 36-hole event. Her six-under par tied for the lowest 36-hole score in program history, as she also headed a Cardinal and Gray team that recorded a school record 36-hole score of 16-under par.
Wong started the week with a 2-1 record in match play at the UAA Women's Golf Championship to help the Tartans place second. She defeated her opponents from Washington University in St. Louis and Emory University before tying her opponent from New York University.
