Jia Named UAA Women’s Golf Athlete of the Week

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Freshman Cecilia Jia of the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Golf Athlete of the Week following her performance in leading the Tartans to a top place showing at the South Georgia Invitational.

Jia claimed the individual medalist as she carded a 36-hole score of even par 144. She opened play carding a round of one-over par 73 and then shot one-under par 71 in the closing round to win by three strokes, as the team won by 15 strokes.

Jia has an average of 73.0 per round and currently leads the Tartans.

The Tartans will next compete at the three-day Jekyll Island Invitational at King and Prince Golf Club in St. Simons Island, Georgia, beginning Friday, March 21.
