#23 Tartans Take Down #13 WashU on the Road, 86-67
(ST. LOUIS, Mo.) – Senior Catherine Or scored 25 points and the 23rd-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team defeated 13th-ranked Washington University in St. Louis on Sunday, January 19 by an 86-67 score to move to 2-1 in the University Athletic Association (UAA) and 12-2 overall. The Bears are now 10-4 and 1-2.
Inside the Box Score
- A 27-0 run by the Tartans in the first quarter proved to be the difference, as the Bears could only get to within eight points late in the third quarter.
- Nine different Tartans scored in the first quarter with junior Ava Arias and junior Nicole Timko leading with six points each.
- The Tartans shot 62.5% in the first frame and made 6-of-6 from long range. The Bears shot 3-of-19 (15.8%) for the quarter.

- Or scored 12 of her game-high 25 points in the fourth quarter. She also tallied a career-high eight assists and made a career-best 11 free throws.
- Timko finished with 19 points off the bench for her most points as a Tartan in her first season since transferring from Christopher Newport. She tied a career-high with five three-pointers.
- Junior Savannah Gibbs recorded 12 points.
- The team made a season-best 13 three-pointers, which ties the school record set in 2022 against Brandeis, and shot a season-best 54.2%.

Notes
- The Tartans snapped a 61-game losing streak against WashU that dates back to 1993 when CMU won at home, 59-53.
- The Tartans last won at WashU in 1991 when they swept the series.
- The last win for the Tartans against a ranked opponent came on January 20, 2017 at home against #23 Rochester. It was also the last win against a ranked opponent when the Tartans were also ranked; they were #13 at the time.
